The thoracic duct
You can view:
The thoracic duct
Note:
On the left, the thoracic duct, draining the whole body except the right upper part, ends by entering into the left brachiocephalic vein.
On the right, the much smaller right lymfatic duct, draining the right upper part of the thorax, the right arm and the right side of the head, ends by entering in the right brachiocephalic vein.
The region of entry of the thoracic duct
Note:
At the location of the entry of the thoracic duct in the left brachiocephalic vein the supraclavicular lymfenodes are positioned. Because the thoracic duct collects lymfe from the biggest part of the body, these nodes are especially prone to recieve metastasis from a malignancy. Enlarged hard supraclavicular nodes are called 'Virchow's node'. This can be palpated in the angle between the clavicle and the neck.
Just somewhat above the supraclavicular nodes are the deep cervical lymfenodes. They also are quite prone to recieve metastasis.
